I have developed my art style over many years, using many different mediums - including; Colored pencil, acrylics, pen and ink, oils, oil pastel, and water colors. My preferred mediums are water colors and acrylics.
Through cartooning as a child, I discovered how to quickly capture the important elements of figures and scenery to create movement and character.
As an airbrush artist, I developed my method of layering colors for hues and values.
Working mainly in the studio, I create realism by using the same layers of colors methods for shading and detail. I also use a color against color with light and shadow as opposed to outlining objects in a painting.
These two principles are the basic foundation of my style. I apply them similarly to each medium to create mood and depth.
My subject matter includes portraits, landscapes, still-life, and wildlife.
Learning mainly through practice and experimentation, I prefer to capture the essence of a subject through it's simple and subtle details in a realistic and unarranged setting.
I have always thought 3-D was interesting and I've even done a few anaglyph paintings that work with the red and blue 3-D glasses.
I have also written and illustrated some children's books, though I am unpublished in hard copy as of yet, I have had two poems published in an online children's magazine.
